Hurricane & Storm Damage Fence Repair

After the storm passes, Bulldog Fence gets South Florida fences standing again — fast, code-compliant repairs and replacements, with the written estimates and photos your insurance carrier asks for.

When a tropical storm or hurricane moves through South Florida, fences are usually the first thing on the ground. Bulldog Fence has been rebuilding after storms since 1974, and we know the drill: pool barriers and security fencing first, honest advice on repair versus replacement, and paperwork that makes the insurance process easier.

What to do right after the storm

  1. Stay safe. Keep clear of downed lines and unstable sections. Do not try to stand a leaning fence back up yourself.
  2. Photograph everything first. Wide shots and close-ups, before anything is moved or cleaned up. Carriers want to see the damage as it happened.
  3. Protect the pool. If a pool-barrier fence is down, put up a temporary barrier and keep children and pets supervised until it is repaired. Pool fences are our first priority.
  4. Request an estimate. Send us the photos and we will get you scheduled. A written estimate is what most insurers need to open the claim.
  5. Beware of storm chasers. Unlicensed crews follow hurricanes. Ask for a Florida license and proof of insurance before paying anyone a deposit.

Working with your insurance

Many Florida homeowners policies cover fences under “other structures,” often as a percentage of the dwelling coverage and subject to the hurricane deductible. Check your policy or ask your agent. We supply an itemized written estimate and photographs, and we can answer the adjuster’s questions about materials and code. Commercial and HOA properties: we work with property managers and boards on multi-section claims.

Rebuilt for the next storm

A replacement fence is installed to the current Florida Building Code requirements in your municipality. That means post depth, spacing and hardware chosen for South Florida wind exposure, and materials that suit the site. Open styles such as aluminum and chain-link let wind through; solid vinyl and wood privacy panels can be built to stand up when they are installed correctly. Our guide to hurricane-ready fencing explains the trade-offs.

Repair or replace after a storm?

A few blown-out panels on a sound post line is a repair. A fence that is down along most of its length, with posts snapped or lifted, is a replacement, and rebuilding the whole run is usually cheaper than piecemeal repairs over time. We inspect the entire fence and give you both numbers. Not sure where your project lands? Our cost estimator gives a planning range, and our fence repair page covers everyday damage.
